Is a soul immortal?
The real answer to this likely is yes
Why?
Because a soul does not live in time and space and so no matter how many bodies you wear in any time (past, present or future) on any planet in this galaxy or another your soul existed before this and after this.
Is a galaxy as permanent as a soul?
NO.
Galaxies are created by the species I know of as "The Creators" who are a species not natural to time and space who build galaxies sort of like how humans build farms here on earth. Farms allow people to have more children. Farming is why earth is overpopulated right now and is being destroyed by too many people killing all other species directly or indirectly in the 6th Great Extinction right now for the last several hundred years and likely for 500 to 1000 years into the future until possibly there are no wild trees left alive in forests or wild animals left alive anywhere but in zoos.
So, what is a Creator?
A Creator is a being that is not born and does not die and does not breathe air (but can when they take upon bodies on earth and other planets. They mostly resemble somewhat Zeus or Odin and that whole pantheon (not as physical beings) but as immortal beings the source of our souls.
Our souls are literally the creator species which does not live in matter or anti-matter naturally but comes from Unknown matter sometimes called Dark matter because it is unknown but comprises 96% of the mass of the entire physical universe. Galaxies only comprise less than 4% or less of the entire universe.
If you didn't have to breathe, eat, drink water, have blood and skin and bone and you didn't even have to live in a Galaxy or on a planet you might be immortal too and not even need time or space to live in.
In experiencing pure being and non-being we begin to experience ourselves once more as creators which is what our souls actually are.
This is why meditation and contemplation is useful to beings (souls) living in human bodies here on earth like us.
