More regarding the Shack (2017)

If you have ever had an experience with God it could be like this movie or you could have a completely different experience. I liked the way the main character is sort of a U.S. everyman who likes the out of doors has a family and goes camping. So, in this sense there are many many men out there like him. Beyond that his personal experiences are very personal that he is dealing with but many of you can relate to this too. I found this movie sort of sad in that the father is dealing with very difficult situations both as a father and when he was growing up as well.

So, for him to meet God and Jesus (likely father, son and Holy Spirit) the way this all worked was something he needed to go on with his life and to take care of his children that were still alive at that point. So, in this context it makes perfect sense why God and Jesus and the Holy ghost would come to him like this in his moment of need.

The book and the movie have an interesting perspective about all this. I found the movie both moving and very sad like real life often is in a very bittersweet way. However, if you are not able right now to deal with a subject matter like this you also might find this movie troubling in many ways too trying to find your place in the universe after seeing it. However, I think this movie is subtly asking questions we all need to ask and if we never ask these questions it is difficult to make any sense of our lives at all. So, in the end though I was troubled by this movie enough to have to write this, still I think it is a movie worth watching if you have the stamina to actually do it.

It's definitely not a comedy by any stretch of the imagination. It's about a family trying to survive a difficult time after the boy grows up from another troubling like situation when he was a boy into a man with his own family.
