May 16, 2016 - That facility was built inside Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. ... When the Cheyenne Mountain facility opened in the late 1960s, it was the NORAD Combat Operations Center. ... In 2006, NORAD and USNORTHCOM moved its main command center to Peterson Air Force Base -- 15 miles away ...
I was reading more about this above article and realized that not only is Cheyenne Mountain impervious to EMPs (Electromagnetic PUlse(s)) that if you put your underground houses deep enough and your Tesla WAll electrical storage batteries were deep enough they might survive a nuclear blast or extreme Carrington event from a Solar STorm too. Though a Carrington event is unlikely to destroy electric motors it likely would destroy all magnetic memory in computers not backed up onto something like a DVD or CD. So, this is another reason to have your magnetic memory deeper than 10 feet below ground to be impervious to a nuclear generated EMP or a Solar Storm of the magnitude of the Carrington event in the mid 1800s.
So, even though a Carrington event or an Emp would end your solar cells if your batteries were deep enough into the earth they might survive (or not) if they were still connected to the solar arrays when the EMP (s) hit.

Solar storm of 1859 - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_storm_of_1859
The solar storm of 1859 (also known as the Carrington Event) was a powerful geomagnetic solar storm during solar cycle 10 (1855–1867). A solar coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetosphere and induced one of the largest geomagnetic storms on record, September 1–2, 1859.
