Why I share statistics and why it makes you a more realistic blogger when you do

Many bloggers start their blog to share whatever they want to share without thinking really what it is their readers actually want to read about. In other words bloggers want to share what they want to share.

However, readers want to read what they want to read.

And for anyone to read the blog you write or compile or both there has to be someplace that the blogger and the reader meet or people don't read those blogs much.

It wasn't until 2010 or 2011 that I discovered the statistics page. So, I started out one of the bloggers with an agenda but not really thinking too much about what my readers actually wanted to read about.

So, when I actually started reading my statistics page.

Note: if you blog and blogger.com (blogspot) if you are in your compose or html mode and entering text into your "compose" section or your "HTML" section you can then look up to just below where the little orange B with Blogger next to it is:

Then look down to the next words which should be the name of your blog.

Now, Click on your blog name.

This should take you to a page that shows all your posts at the top should be the very last post or article you composed or compiled or both.

If you look down on the left a little bit is says "Overview" which if you click on this should display

your statistics for your blogging site which is automatically generated by Bots or AI within Blogger.com

Now look up to your right where there are boxes that say in order "Now" "day" "week" "month"

"All Time"

you can click on any of these boxes and it will generate below your top 5 for each of these categories depending upon which box you click on.

Look down to where it says "posts" to see the results.

Now go to any of the day, week, month, or all time you can click on "More" to get your top ten for each.

Then what I do is to go up to Edit near "Chrome" as I'm in Chrome right now instead of what I have preferred in the past which was Firefox and I click on "edit" then I cover the parts I want to copy with my mouse until they all are blue. Then I copy this result to my "compose" page and then I put the cursor to the right of each of the numbers and hit delete until the numbers are gone.

This way I clean it up for display for "most read in a day" or "most read in 168 hours or 7 days"

Then I save it after cleaning it up and putting a  title on it and putting a label on it so others can read it more easily.

Note: my daughter used to work part time putting stuff on Craig's list for a company while in college so she is very adept at HTML "Hyptertext Markup Language" which is the basic language (there are many other variations) that work on HTTP or "Hypertext Transfer Protocol" worldwide.

So, she put the top 5 automatically generated on the top of my blog site for the month. I liked what this did but liked instead the top 10 of the month generated instead of the top 5 for the month and altered the programming myself to show the top 10 top read articles for the last 30 days.

So now, I only have to put the top 10 of the last 24 hours and the top 10 of the last 168 hours or 7 days at my site mostly daily to have the top 10 of the day, week, and month automatically displayed for readers on any given day most of the time.

The 10 most popular posts of all time at my site are automatically generated daily to the left of the site where it says "top 10 most popular posts"
