I'm looking at a radar of the rain coming down presently around Eureka. It's supposed to eventually (either today, Sunday or Monday) eventually get over to Mt. Shasta area too. Everyone is looking forward to it in the hopes that it puts out the remaining fires or dampens them down some (one or the other). Smoke hasn't been bad here at all from fires in the distance so it's been nice being here. There was definitely a change in the weather yesterday though with clouds coming in the way it looks later in the year when there is going to be a rain or snow storm coming through when I lived here before in the 70s, 80s off and on until 1992 which was the last time I tried to live here in Mt. Shasta.
I went to Castle Lake yesterday with a friend for the first time since about June. Normally he kayaks there but there has been so much smoke up there this summer this was the first time he went there this summer so far and we didn't kayak we just walked around the lake. The sun was mostly blotted out with smoke and the trees didn't look very happy either and the lake was as low as I've ever seen it which was kind of sad too. This has been a difficult summer for anyone living around Mt. Shasta.
So, any rain is very hopeful and will be helpful to everyone concerned, especially people and trees and lakes and rivers.
