Made it home safe to Greater SF Bay Area today. The most surprising thing likely for me was that when I loaded up in Mt. Shasta it was 37 degrees and "BRRR"! But as I drove to Redding I had to take off my jacket and flannel shirt and Sorrell (After ski boots) because it was then 68 degrees when I stopped at a Starbucks in Redding to get some breakfast and a whole milk Latte. Then even more surprising it was 70 degrees while I drove between Redding and Red Bluff and stayed around 68 degrees all the way to the coast. The only way I could actually even try to explain this would be cirrus clouds (thicker then usual) maybe from a Pineapple Express coming our way later this week. Otherwise this made no sense to me at all why it was this hot in January all the way home? IN winter I often wear a Sorel Boot like this in the winter in Mt. Shasta because they are insulated, and they are rubber just below the ankle and good for snow or ice too (which you often are walking through if it has snowed in Town or on the mountain. So, I can take these off and put on either downhill boots that I rent or my own ski boots for a pair of Mountaineering metal edged skis and poles I own. I usually always travel with a pair of chains for emergencies, jumper cables for emergencies and various other things in addition to always driving my Tundra 4 wheel drive so I can drive wherever I need to in the snow. I wear a size 15 Sorel boot because I'm 6 foot 5 inches tall. I might have bought mine through 2 big feet. Yes. I also usually take a pair of snowshoes I bought at REI that are set up for my height and weight. This way I'm mostly prepared for most emergencies or just fun situations that I encounter.
