Saw 40 or 50 trees down today in the area where I live

And all these trees were a minimum of 1 to 2 feet in diameter with an average of 20 to 40 feet in height. But, luckily the wind off the ocean did this mostly near a golf course so most of these trees didn't damage buildings or people. I had already seen about 20 to 30 trees this size but most of them had come down on roads I use regularly when in Northern California. One road is still closed because the damage was so great because the tree was about 4 feet wide and severely damaged the road and vehicles too in the area. So, that road might be closed for several months more at this point.

While I was in Santa Barbara to avoid flooding and rain and power outages in the north near San Francisco I had been told about 100 trees had come down in my area. Today I realized that at least that many or more had come down which is amazing! The winds can come off the ocean in a storm at 100 mph or more but trees this size might come down (roots and all) in winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour. Some trees had just sheared in half from the winds half way up which was amazing to look at. And some looked like someone peeled half of them off and half of them remained standing. Very strange.
