There is likely a Class 5 avalanche that went next to Horse Camp on Mt. Shasta in the Gulch

When I can get to Mt. Shasta after taking care of business here, I plan to snowshoe and also take a pair of skis if the snow conditions are safe enough up to near Horse camp Sierra Club emergency lodge at tree line. It is up from Bunny Flats which is as far as they snow plow the road in the winters and springs on mt. Shasta. If you get off I believe at the Central exit of Mt. Shasta and go to the right and stay on that road up the mountain you eventually arrive at Bunny Flats where my friends tell me there likely will be 20 to 30 feet of snow there at Bunny Flats right now and more if you snow shoed up to Panther meadows or up on the mountain towards Horse Camp. But, be careful because where there is one Class 5 avalanche there could be more. The present avalanche remains are at least 50 feet across and dropped 4000 feet in elevation traveling several miles down Mt. Shasta down the gulch next to Horse Camp Lodge and knocked down many many adult and trees of all ages on it's way. Luckily, the road had not been plowed so no climbers or skiers died. But we won't know likely for sure until about a year from next summer for sure if the snow now ever melts out.

If you take the central exit at the city of Mt. Shasta and then head up Lake Street to your right towards the mountain past Mt. Shasta High School which is one of the main last recognizable public buildings before you get to the forest and just keep going up on the paved road there (if it is plowed of snow) you can likely go all the way to Bunny flats. But, watch out for snow plows because they are really huge when they have to plow 20 feet or more of snow because they are giant snowblowers with 7 or 8 feet circular snow grinders in the front that they then blow the snow out a vent behind the cab usually to the right of the vehicle. The one of many snow plows blowing snow to your right is what they look like:
