The oldest economy is actually Japan not the U.S.

By old I mean the median age is older in Japan than in the U.S. The point is that As Americans get older the dynamics of the country get older. One reason is the Baby Boomers caused by World war II when everyone who survived World War II came back and had kids to know that they were still alive and not dead. So, the baby boomers have all gotten old now and have inherited or made new wealth and so control the wealth of the land now.

But, if I were young now I don't really think I could afford to have kids, especially if I had student loans to pay off. So, I think less and less educated Americans are going to have kids because of student loans. So, if you want people to have children you are going to have to give free college educations like they do in Many countries in Europe.

A GROWING NUMBER OF Americans are living to age 100. Nationwide, the centenarian population has grown 65.8 percent over the past three decades, from 32,194 people who were age 100 or older in 1980 to 53,364 centenarians in 2010, according to new Census Bureau data. In contrast, the total population has increased 36.3 percent over the same time period.
