ever increasing school shootings is likely increasing home or independent study by students

In 1980 we removed our 3 children from public school in Mount Shasta when they moved the 4th to 6 grade to the junior high school because of too many students in the Grade School and immediately an 8th grader broke a 4th grader's jaw. So, in protest we took our children out of school  and went on independent study for 5 years with our children through Oak Meadow School.

So, I'm thinking that parents that have the time to put their children on independent study would do this rather than watch their kids be shot in grade school.

However, by Junior High or High School there is something to be said for socialization of students as well. But, even then some children as self starters would be okay through high school on a home schooling or independent study schedule as well.

Because home schoolers and independent study children are often self starters, by the time college rolls around they know exactly what they want to do in their lives (at least from 18 to 25) and so they are free to pursue those goals often whereas public schools tend to "dumb children down" and separate them from their true interests generally speaking and confuse them a lot.

So, I suppose you can confuse your kids with public school and maybe get them shot in school or you can help your children be self directed in an entrepreneurial way towards becoming successful interested business people who can always sustain themselves the rest of their lives ongoing.
