Quite a difference from Kauai and Maui about a month ago now at 95 degrees with 90 percent humidity. We expect 29 degrees here in Portland by Wednesday and it's presently 39 degrees as I write this. The skies are clear here in Portland for now and supposedly the rest of this week which is what will allow these really cold temperatures for this area this time of year along with a polar blast coming down through Canada on Tuesday.
Some friends of ours have been evacuated from Santa Rosa because of the Kincade fire and we offered them our home in the bay area to stay in if they need it. another Daughter of friends doesn't like the Black outs in Eureka because she is in college there and likely has electric heat and Eureka is sort of a cold part of California there near the Oregon border on the coast. Also, there is no Internet during the blackouts. So, I'm realizing that a lot of pipes may freeze Tuesday or Wednesday in Northern California when it goes way below freezing from no power for heat if power is still out then there. People will be using candles not only for lighting but also for heating their homes and hands in many parts of the state if they don't have a fireplace or wood stove now.
