- I started doing research through Wikipedia and other places regarding 3d printers likely around 2012 or 2013 and realized these were a real game changer sort of like the Iphone was in getting things done. Though the Cell phone was one kind of revolution, a 3d printer is another kind of revolution where it makes possible you making most stuff you need around your home or business eventually. Though most work is done through plastics now, eventually the price of metal 3d printers (they use powdered metal and a vacuum to make things like titanium ball joints for human beings custom made for each size needed for each human being. But, theoretically you could also make all your own silverware and parts for any metal object you might use including car parts for your engine or bicycle parts for your bike made of various kinds of metals once prices of these metal vacuum 3d printers gets down low enough around the world. So, eventually there might be no store fronts at all left (except for ladies clothing) that they want to try on and maybe local food markets and people would just manufacture at home every part to anything they needed themselves, especially on ranches and farms and for people living remotely around the world. Living remotely because of wind and solar power is much more common than before by the way too worldwide. As long as people have wind or solar or river water power to tap into they can live almost anywhere more easily now and manufacture whatever parts they need to almost literally anything with a 3D printer.
Note: My wife tells me I need to mention even if you have the correct 3d printers for your job at hand and you have digital templates for making literally any part you still need to buy the raw materials to make these parts and you still need a power source whether it is a power company or solar or wind or river power to give you power to power your 3d printers to make whatever you want to make all over the world.
