Minecraft?

Minecraft is a computer game that looks a lot like something made by Leggos or something like that. However, it is very family friendly and I started to play in Portland with my son who is around 45 and his son who is 5 years old. I realized that I could also play with them online in this game from the San Francisco Bay area even though they live in Portland so I bought a PS4 especially for doing this to take back to California with me.

My son is very conversant in computers and so my thought is to get a tripod for my Iphone so we can talk long distance so he can help me navigate a lot of the problems (tech wise) that I might encounter playing Minecraft because I'm not a life long gamer like my son is.He also likes to build custom desk top computers as a hobby and this is easy to do through Amazon prime especially with free shipping of parts to you when you custom build a computer at home. So, you can build literally your own Ferrari type of desktop computer yourself if you have the skills to custom design something like this by buying all your parts online with free shipping from Amazon Prime.

Note: The tripod for my Iphone would be so that I can do a video call with the video camera focused on the 60 inch flat screen that I would be playing minecraft on in SF Bay area. This way my son can also read what's on my screen to help me navigate any tech problems I might encounter regarding making Minecraft work online effectively.

My son likes to build houses and to ride horses and to farm and mine and to collect farm animals and to grow food in this game so in some ways this game reminds me of Sims which is a simulation game of being a human being, for example, in Sims you can get married, raise a family and all sorts of stuff, so in this sense Minecraft is much simpler in some ways than this but you can be a tool builder and home builder and miner while riding around on horseback or digging underground and facing all sorts of challenges.

One of the interesting things about this game is once you plant food and put water near it to water the
things you are growing you can harvest continually because the food keeps growing back so you have food to eat ongoing near your homes you build. in other words once you plant food it keeps growing and you don't have to replant as long as it has water to water it.

So, from this point of view this is very educational for a 5 year old to understand how all this works.

My grandson does research on his Ipad to learn more about what can be done on Minecraft sometimes in his spare time from school.

(even though it isn't 100% realistic it is realistic enough to begin to understand building homes, planting and harvesting food, mining for metals to make axe heads and other tools to make more things with.)

Also, at night (night being randomly generated by the game) ghost like things like skeletons can come out that you can fight or you can just go to sleep in your house where you are safe if you close the doors and not deal with them as you choose.

So, this is interesting in whatever way you want it to be too.

Also, they have a herd of sheep and a herd of Cattle too in their lands that exist on Minecraft.
