I knew my adult children (20 to 24 years old then) likely would physically survive all this but it would take a toll on them.
But, watching this movie as you see this man stranded on an island somewhere in the vicinity of the Tuomoto Archipeligo (Tahiti area) you begin to process what has now happened to many lives on earth with their livelihoods gone and extreme adaptation is now in place to survive whatever comes if they can.
This movie is metaphorically what just happened to about 47% of Americans the last few months because of Coronavirus. If you understand this it will help you to process more what they and you are going through in your lives right now worldwide.
Extreme adaptation is the only way really to survive all this. If you can take an interest in your survival often you will survive almost anything. It might not be pretty but it is mostly survivable for most people at least.
I can say this because I already survived: Whooping cough, Blunt Trauma childhood epilepsy, The Cuban Missile Crisis, The Kennedy Assassination, The Viet Nam War, the 1960s and 1970s, Being married 3 times, a heart virus in 1998 and 1999, a burst appendix in 2015 and everything else that happened in my life.
Just remember, you might survive ALMOST ANYTHING. The world might be different than you expected, but then that happens to ALL OF US eventually!

Although hesitant and unsatisfying on the mainland, Cast Away delivers where it counts - a powerful depiction of a man marooned. Thoroughly absorbing. Full review
