Research done reflects this. However, I have wondered for some time how you are going to get people in Southern States with full humidity to wear masks when it is 90 to 100 degrees out. Because under these conditions some people are going to die out walking in masks if they are forced to wear them outside away from air conditioning.
Even though this is less of a problem in places like California which have really low humidity levels in general because of the proximity to deserts especially to places like San Diego, Los Angeles County and Orange County up as far north as Santa Barbara. So, you don't really have a humidity problem this near the deserts. As you travel north along the coast there is a little more humidity but not usually that much because even though the deserts don't extend north beyond the Tehachapi mountains into the San Joaquin Valley still it is drier than along the coast up through the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys.
But, places like the Texas coast and Louisiana and Alabama and Florida and Georgia have a real humidity problem in the summer especially, so wearing masks in these areas during the summer time could be fatal if someone was walking far enough out in the heat. And it would be worse for people with breathing and other health issues like Asthma and Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes and the like.
