There appears to be a way to make your own air purifier (for the smoke from the fires) that I saw done on the Weather Channel

If you have one of those about 2 1/2 feet to 3 feet across enclosed fans that protect people's fingers then you can go to someplace like Ace hardware(or if you have central heating or central air conditioning often you have extra filters that are about the same size as the big portable fans people buy. Then you tape the filter on the intake of the fan to suck the air in your room through that filter so it filters out all or most of the particles now.

Air purifiers like Winix from South Korea and others are in short supply because of all the fires in California. So, if you can't buy a Winix or other Air purifier then make your own for the moment. It's nice not to breathe smoke particles in your own home while you sleep or watch TV or eat breakfast, lunch or dinner.

One note though. As an electrician you need to be concerned about the thickness of your filter you are using. If it prevents the fan from turning the right speeds it could start a fire too. So, leave a little space between the filter and the fan so the fan still can suck a little air without being slowed down by the filter too much and overheating and causing a fire. So, you do have to be careful of this with fan electric motors and not cause them to overheat too much.
