It's supposed to be 74 degrees this afternoon but since we are into fall weather at least at night 38 degrees is what it is at 9 am today Wednesday. The house has a monitor heater which can be left on whether people are here or not and my friends tell me that in order to not have your pipes freeze when people aren't here through fall or winter you need to set it at least at around 43 degrees to keep the pipes from freezing inside of a house here in Mt. Shasta. When we arrived the inside of the house was 56 degrees and the guest house was about 59 degrees which is pretty good considering all the ups and downs of temperatures day and night ongoing.
But, it's a good idea to have one of these types of heaters especially if you aren't going to be at your home all the time (if you don't have central heating installed in your home especially if it freezes where you live.
I was pretty amazed at how quickly it moved up to a living temperature when I raised the temperature up to a more happy living temperature and the house started to warm up while we are here.
We are on several acres of land here with a view out onto a lovely meadow that I plan to visit once the temperatures get up to around 70 degrees or so. There are deer here and sometimes bears and always squirrels and rabbits and hares pretty much year around and of course a lot of birds coming and going this time of year.
Hundreds of Canadian Geese were flying south in Formation for the winter as we drove north up Interstate 5.
