I woke up early and built a fire in the wood stove to save electricity from the Monitor heater and found it was 40 degrees out while I was gathering wood for the wood stove. My wife got up and it was nice to just sit around the wood stove all cozy after I shut the stove down so it could coal and distribute the heat better. I lived up here in Mt. Shasta from 76 to 78 and then from 1980 to 1985 and then again from 89 to 92 as well and mostly have been visiting a lot for kayaking, hiking and skiing since. This time of year it is beautiful for the leaves turning colors which is why my wife likes being up here this time of year because the leaves changing are really beautiful. It's also nice not to be in a citified or suburban place this close to the elections because it gets really crazy. It's nice to be "AWAY from it all right now" to feel sane and with nature and away from all the craziness because we already voted a couple of weeks ago already. Here are the highs and lows so far this week.
