I thought the Adele Africa Sketch at SNL was one of the funniest episodes of the last SNL

It was mostly because Adele kept cracking up through the whole thing. So, just couldn't keep a straight face because she was just laughing so much that made the sketch work so well. It was a wonderful laugh

for me. I suppose people can criticize sketches for all sorts of reasons but this sketch and the dating game

sketch and the haunted halloween sketch I thought were all pretty classic and funny SNL sketches.

Turning pathos into humor seemed to be a "Halloween" landmark for many of these sketches which worked mostly because this is Halloween Week in the first place.

Americans are known for their "Dark or Black humor during wartime traditionally" which is why we have won so many wars in the past instead of just shooting ourselves.

The American capacity to laugh at ourselves in really strange ways is a hallmark of why we have survived as a country while many other cultures have died out.

Just think of how many people died settling the U.S. in the first place? We have always been surrounded by death on all sides in various ways and yet we have always persevered and kept going.

That's what it is to be American in the first place. What is more American than being an American divorcee and going to Africa to survive your divorce so you don't just kill yourself instead but find a way to regroup and go on with your life?
