what do you need to know to learn to program in a computer language?

The first thing you need to know is that a computer language is like any human language in that it has it's own way of doing things. The main difference between computer languages and human languages is that computer languages all relate to mathematics and are formulaic sort of like Algebra at times. The first language i learned (computer language) I believe was ForTran (which literally means "formula Translation" which is a lot like learning Algebra as a computer language. But, I actually like Algebra when I learned it so I had an easy time learning Fortran as a result because the key was thinking in different formulas like "IF this is true then this is true" or  "if this is true go here but if that is true go there".

And then underneath all these computer languages are just Zeros and ones which means that when a switch is on it's a one and when a switch is off it's a zero.

Then everything on computers is in Binary which is a way to use Zeros and ones to create everything a digital computer does.
