Which means an auto-encoder might have to literally search through every other URL that has ever been generated at your site. Or, a short hand method for it would be to go to a number that hasn't been used before like a date. Because you are only going to have so many urls generated on a specific Date.
But, I can imagine an auto-encoder searching through literally thousands of other URLs generated at your site to make sure the URL it is generating is unique and different (even if it is one letter or number different) so it won't be confused with any other URL anywhere else on earth. You could also see how over time URLs likely will have to get longer and longer. However, the more letters used the better because there are 26 letters in the alphabet and only 10 numbers Zero through 9 if we are speaking about the decimal system of referring to numbers.
If you don't know what an auto-encoder is: many blog sites have auto-ecoders installed simply because it is about 90% easier to compose in an auto encoder than have to compose in HTML (Hypertext markup Languge). For example, I composed my geocities site by programming in HTML from summer 1999 until Fall of 2007 when I got this site which was a lot of work. However, if you are used to spending that much time composing something you just do it. I had taught myself basic HTML by saving the opening Yahoo page in Windows 95 in the 1990s (probably 1995) and then playing with it to see what it did by changing variables. But, I had already learned COBOL, FORTAN, and BASIC Computer languages likely starting with Fortran in 1966 in College already. So, i was familiar with how to be a programmer in a computer language. It's sort of like with human languages once you learn one language it's easier to learn other ones too.
