First of all, ANY time you go online to do ANYTHING it is about as risky to you and to your family as getting into your car or truck and driving to work (but probably not as risky as you getting on a motorcycle or bicycle and riding to work).
So, blogging might be more like getting on a motorcycle or bicycle and riding to work every day you blog.
However, if you have things you want to say then possibly this might work for you as a blogger.
I have had a site here at blogger.com (blogspot) since the fall of 2007 and before that at geocities.com which eventually was bought by Yahoo.com. Also, in 2007 I bought a site at Yahoo business for longer things that I write also called dragonofcompassion.com (all the words at the top of the page there mostly are links or word buttons by the way)
So, whether you consider me to be a serious writer or not you likely have to consider me to be a serious blogger since I have been blogging continually now since 1999 around June then.
Here's what I would say if you are interested in becoming a worldwide blogger:
First, comments can be a problem simply because your area that people can get your site is global through a provider like blogspot (blogger.com). I have run into problems with especially people leaving comments in other languages like especially Chinese language stuff regarding prostitution for example as well as spam from all over the world. Because I don't want to spend all my time every day dealing with spam and prostitution comments I mostly just shut off my comments pretty much and don't edit them because that would be all I would be doing here. So, I don't.
So, having a blog site can be like having an email site where there is just so much spam that one day (like me) you just stop using your email site completely. (Oh, i check it once or twice a year but that's all). This is true of all three of my emails. So, if people want to contact me I have them text or phone me now or write me because email just got too unmanageable and ridiculous for words. However, my wife uses her email for business and other things so I don't really need mine anymore anyway.
I don't use facebook at all unless I have to find someone in an emergency because Facebook has NEVER been a safe site for everyone. My daughter even sort of forced the rest of our family to stop using What's App worldwide simply because they sell all this information at Facebook to the highest bidder.
IF you are getting over 5000 to 10,000 visits to your site (you can check your counters here at blogger.com) per month you need to stop having pictures of your family and yourself here at blogger.com
At one point this site was receiving over 100,000 visits per month and at that point you really don't want any pictures of yourself or your family or your home or vehicles on your site simply because it isn't safe anymore simply because the latitude and longitude of the digital pictures you take with your smartphone will give criminals your exact location where you too these pictures and when here on earth wherever they were taken.
And they can then use this location information to harm or to kidnap your family or you for ransom.
It's different if you are a TV, Silver Screen, or Internet personality because then you understand that you are selling yourself for money and that you are willing to die (potentially) to get more money. That's a different thing entirely. But, if you are just blogging for fun and for whatever your reason if you don't protect yourself and your family then who will?
So, when I blog I don't give the exact town I live in I tell people I live in Northern Coastal California near San Francisco. Since millions of people fit that description I feel safe in sharing that much. I don't give people my full name other than Fred as in "intuitivefred888" because that I feel safer doing too. I don't give people my address or phone number but as you know almost any person's name or number could be found out if they wanted to bad enough worldwide.
But, I do often share about growing up in the Los Angeles, Seattle where I was born, and Santa Fe, New Mexico where I graduated High School. But, you do realize that this was from about 1950 until the late 1960s which is a long time ago now.
The point I'm making here is you can share very very personal important things with people that might help them survive and stay alive longer and happier without endangering your self and your family and friends.
So, can you help the world by Blogging?
Yes. You Can. If you first protect yourself and your family and friends first.
blogger is where I am but my daughter recommends I start a new site at Word Press but hasn't had time to help me with this yet. So, I suppose at some point I might just go set one up myself.
Why? Because Blogspot doesn't always do what I want it to for whatever the reason.
However, if you are a first time blogger the auto encoder here I like a lot so you don't have to be an HTML programmer to have a site here.
But, of course the more you know about how computers, the internet, HTML and compatible computer languages all likely would be helpful but not necessary.
but, you likely need to know how to use a search engine to find tutorials of how to do everything you want to well even with an auto encoder.
