It is mostly a comedy but it also has 1950s sci-fi horror elements. Although it likely won't scare you because it's not the 1950s anymore so it's more comedic and tongue in cheek than anything else.
I only saw "The Blob" recently on one of the streaming services for the first time within the last 6 months so I immediately recognized many of "The Blob" elements. They even had the kids in the theater watching "The Blob" when they are attacked at one point. Fun kitchy stuff from a 50s viewpoint but you have to be ready to watch something like this. I think it's supposed to be 1957 or something like that.
They might be streaming "The Blob" which was made in 1958 at HBO Max. I think that's where I saw it within the last 6 months or more ago.
The Blob in 1958 was the "Formula" movie for many other sci fi horror and some comedy sci-fi flicks for years after it was made. This is how Steve McQueen really started his career with this movie too.
