I talked to a friend in the Mt. Shasta area and he was saying the prevailing wind now is towards the north so towards Yreka. I had thought it was the opposite. Also, on a fire map I found that spot fires from the Lava fire look like they are scaling Mount Shasta already in the Vicinity of maybe Whitney Glacier.
So, once again the prevailing winds will tend to drive the fire towards Yreka or Weed and not towards Mt. Shasta City. But, spot fires are up the side of the Mountain Mt. Shasta near Weed as well.
