I live in California so I can tell you that most of the new cases would be Los Angeles County and to their south where there are more people from south of the border as citizens or green card holders who might not have college educations and be very macho in their behaviors because this is normal in their cultures south of the border to think like this. So, risk taking is a way of life for many from south of the border originally and because of this many likely will now die from covid because of this macho attitude unfortunately.
And in the south and midwest not getting vaccinated has to do mostly with being very traditional and religious. Unfortunately now, being religious and not scientific can be fatal to many and will be. I watched many people I knew and loved in my church die rather than go to a doctor growing up in Los Angeles by the way. Watching them all die is one reason why I now believe in medical Science but also in preventative medicine like my father championed as well by eating organic foods and drinking good spring or reverses osmosis water which filters out cryptosporidium which is impervious to chlorine and Fluoride water treatments.
This appears to just be a fact of life everyone will have to deal with of all groups.
