Palm Springs is at the foot of San Jacinto Mountain. And there is a tram up to near the top there too if it is open now.

I was doing research for something else and found this and thought you might be interested in it. The picture to the right is from the Tram going up to near the top of San Jacinto Mountain from near to Palm Springs is where you originate. It can be 120 in palm springs and then you go up the tram and it might be 70 or 80 degrees up on top at the top of the tram.
