However, the daily new cases is averaging 74,742 which is up by 5% from last week so we might be seeing the winter surge again like last year or in that direction. However, the 74,742 average per day now is among everyone of all ages.
The average number of deaths per day is now 1,303 which is down 17% from a week ago. However, if the number of cases is going up by 5% since last week the death toll logically will also rise eventually (2 or 3 weeks from now as well).
58% of the nation is now fully vaccinated.
But, most cases are in northern states now because it is getting colder there and forcing people indoors more where they can be more easily infected if they are not vaccinated or wearing masks.
