The film was shot in Technicolor and marked Lean's first attempt at directing comedy after working on two straight films In Which We Serve and This Happy Breed, both also written by Noël Coward.

Blithe Spirit (1945 film) - Wikipedia

It was originally written by Noel Coward in 1941 and they seemed to paint the lady spirit sort of a green like the color of her dress which has a very different but interesting effect upon the audience watching. The 1945 version stars Rex Harrison as a 30s or 40 something husband and writer.

I had found it and recorded it I think on Turner Classic Movies a week or so ago and watched part of it the other night late.

I had seen the newer version with different actors more recently.
