Californians and likely New Yorkers tend to travel abroad more than other states

 Why is this? Probably because there is likely more wealth and education concentrated in both Coastal California as well as New York State. And because New York state is on the Atlantic Ocean and because California is on the Pacific Ocean. Oceans tend to make people think in more mobile ways too.

This is why I wasn't surprised to see that the first tested Omicron case was found in San Francisco.
