Istarted to watch this movie and it brought back my father's life to me because the movie takes place in Montana in 1925. My father was born in Morenci, Arizona in 1916 near a deep pit Copper mine there while my grandfather did the electrical wiring for the worker's housing there. My Grandfather was an Electrical Contractor. My father's older brother was born in I believe 1912 and his younger brother and two sisters were born sometime between 1917 and 1921. They lived in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington while they followed their father doing electrical contracts throughout the west including Texas where my grandmother was from. One winter when the kids were really little my grandfather ran a trap line in the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho because he had a hard time listening to all the crying of babies and small kids then likely sometime between 1918 and 1921 or 1922. Eventually, as the kids got older by 1927 they decided to buy 2 1/2 acres or more in Lake Forest Park near Seattle and the Puget Sound which connects directly to the Pacific Ocean eventually. Also, Lake Washington was nearby too and the kids went boating with rowboats and maybe built their own sailboats then too sometime after they moved there in 1927. I was 12 in 1960 and went there when my grandfather and grandmother were still alive and I also was born in Waldo Hospital where I believe KOMO TV is now and spent the first 4 years of my life on my grandfather's land first in a Spartan 28 foot Aluminum Trailer (similar to an Airstream now but a different shape) and then below the garage my father built an apartment for my mother and I and her mother to live in also. I remember this place quite well because there were Raspberries and Boysenberries growing outside the back door just outside where our washing machine was then.
When I was 12 and returned from Southern California where we moved to when I was 4 for a visit to my Grandfather's property I was asked to pick Cherries from the Cherry trees so I climbed the very high 3 legged ladders and picked Cherries because that was expected of my 17 year old cousin and myself then and because my grandmother was too old to climb the ladders anymore to pick the cherries and Green Apples they were growing there on their land. My 17 year old cousin came with us to visit and also we all went to the 1960 World's Fair which was in Seattle that year. However, I never went up the Space needle until likely 20 or more years later even though it was built for the world's fair in 1960 simply because the lines were so long you might have to wait all day to go up there. in1960 during the World's Fair then.
So the setting of 1925 in the movie made me realize just how wild things really still were then in the 1920s in the U.S.
However, I didn't get as far as Wyoming to the Tetons until I was I think 14 years old in 1962 with my parents in a Shasta Trailer we rented that we pulled behind our 1960 Mercury Station wagon then. But, we made it to my grandfather's 1200 acre Gold mining claim in Elk City, Idaho when I was 8 years old in 1956.
