We are humanoid-Ape hybrids built to be servants. Generally, we didn't live thousands of years like our humanoid genetic engineer creators. Those that genetically designed us don't become adults until they are 100 to 200 years old. So, they never thought of us more than children because of this. They believed beings not over 100 to 200 years should ever be trusted with adult decisions and time travel and space travel are some of the most adult decisions beings ever make in this galaxy.
So, we were always thought of as children who would die before we grew up. (at somewhere between 30 and 60 years old then mostly).
This is why we never had space travel out in the open until now.
Watch "the Mandalorian" where "Baby Yoda" is 50 years old and is still a child who doesn't speak and you will understand this better then.
I think the most useful thing to do is to psychologically prepare to live hundreds or thousands of years on into the future because some of Us (Me and You) might be doing this as well as many of our children and grandchildren as well.
