Life is precious

There is a concept that you find in Buddhism and specifically I found this in Tibetan Buddhism too of "Precious Human birth".

I think this is a great way to look at it. Now, from a Tibetan Buddhist point of view it might be that you want to be born a human and not a cow or a pig or a gnat or another insect because it's hard to progress on the path towards enlightenment if you are not a human being from their point of view.

But, whether you believe in all that or not I think is not the point really.

The point is human birth is precious and should be valued that you were born at all.

I can remember being very reactionary to life in general and that a lot of my life was a struggle to stay alive, first through childhood with people trying to kill me sometimes. Then trying to stay alive through my 20s where I was often my own worst enemy because I wasn't perfect enough for myself or others to the point where I seriously (for several years considered ending my life because I couldn't be what I wanted to be to please my parents).

But, in the end I realized that you really can't please anyone but yourself and God. That's it. What people want from you is always just going to cause your suicide or death often.

So, understanding this is a way to stay alive.

In other words I realized I never was going to fit into the world and so when I realized I had to create my own world to live in physically and mentally and emotionally if I wanted to stay alive here that was the best decision I ever made.

So, I guess what I'm saying is: "Be the captain of your own ship and the master of your own destiny".

Otherwise you likely won't be living very long (or you will wish you were dead anyway) if you aren't a master of your own life.

By God's Grace

Life is precious: Yours and everyone else's too!
