It''s sort of like Russia (through Putin) is getting divorced from the rest of the nations on earth except for maybe Belarus and China and possibly North Korea?
You notice that you cannot believe ANYTHING he says and he just does whatever he wants to.
Why is this?
Because in Russia at least he has already killed or imprisoned anyone who thinks differently than him already.
So, there is no Politburo like there was in the Communist party before Yeltsin was president and then Putin was next when Yeltsin died of Alcohol poisoning. Yeltsin was the first democratically elected president of Russia by the way in the 1990s. And Yeltsin appointed Putin to take his place when Yeltsin got sick from Alcohol poisoning and finally died.
So, there are NO checks and balances on Putin at all unless you consider the Russia People themselves a check and balance. However, since Putin's thugs that he pays are going to kill or imprison or poison anyone who opposes Putin in any way it is unlikely he can be removed from power even by the Russian people (at least at this point in world history).
So, because of this there is an equal chance that nuclear weapons likely will be used by Putin at some point during whatever this is he is presently doing.
No one really knows at this point what Putin's actual plan is short or long term. So, in this sense Putin is holding the whole world hostage and could potentially kill everyone on earth if he is crazy enough to do that.
We just have to wait and see what happens next.
