I was up early after going to sleep early while traveling and noticed water spurt up and realized it must be a clam because most other things don't do that at the beaches on Puget Sound near Seattle, Washington. Then I noticed other clams shooting water up 6 inches to 2 feet into the air one by one too. I wanted to know more about this so I researched online and found it was the Rough Piddock clam doing this so early in the morning on a beautiful day staying right at the seashore. 40 foot or so Sail boats are at anchor nearby with their owners or friends on board for the night and various boats are going by. Also, the ferries between islands and mainland and back are visiting here too about once every half hour or hour. So, often I will see them dock or leave because they are also nearby. This is really an amazing place to visit unlike almost anywhere else I have been on earth in it's uniqueness. We stayed on the waterfront in Seattle at the Marriott with a view of the ocean and ferris wheel with cruise ship called "The Norwegian Sun" nearby us too and ferries and boats going by also the previous two nights. However, Here out on the Puget sound islands it is a much more primitive and pristine experience of the many islands and the Olympic Peninsula.
There is also Olympic National Park nearby too. Here is information on the park if you are interested too.
