If you have studied or experienced what I experienced in Yellowstone this year when homes were washing away along with large green cottonwood trees that rolled down the Yellowstone river like battering rams into smaller bridges knocking them down completely or enough so you couldn't drive across them to wherever you were going it makes one think twice about visiting our national parks this year.
Death Valley National Park is another example of what can happen with the extreme weather this year too.
Both events likely to some degree were triggered by the fact that warmer air (like this year) can hold much more moisture than colder air and can now produce these extreme weather conditions, especially during the spring, Summer and fall almost anywhere in the lower 48 states or even in Hawaii and Alaska too during the summers.
So, wherever you go that is more primitive that has been protected by design like National Parks always carry potable water and food and rain gear and jackets and sleeping bags in case roads are completely washed out or temporarily impassable like in Gardiner, Montana (the north entrance to Yellowstone which is closed for the summer (because of flooding).
Being prepared keeps you from either being a death by flooding or death by hypothermia statistic or death by heat from it being too hot while it is flooding and your car runs out of gas (or diesel).
