Went into hospital Monday without laptop computer. So, outside of yesterday I didn't have a computer to blog on there.

I think the total amount of time I have been forced to stay in a hospital is likely under 11 days in my life. My wife says when my appendix burst in 2015 I spent a week in the hospital in Mt. Shasta. Then in June of 2020 I spent 24 hours in the hospital when my defibrillator pacemaker was installed. And then three days (Monday to Wednesday this week).

It is a very unnatural experience and in some ways very disempowering if you are an independent person who is captain of their own ship and master of their own destiny like I am. So, I struggled a lot with being awakened every hour of the day and night for people to take blood and check my blood pressure. However, I was always as polite as I could muster even if I was trying to sleep at the time when they just woke me up and interrupted my sleep.

So, in some ways you have to be very self disciplined to put up with what you have to to survive a hospital stay. Otherwise, some people just freak out and this might not be useful because they might not be able to help you stay alive if you freak out too much. So, by the time I left the hospital Wednesday I had had more than enough and wanted my life back.
