The way this storm that is coming to the east coast is being described a lot of people are going to be suffering

First of all you have wind chill factors to the north of minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit which means if you go outside your house in this likely for any reason you could die within 5 minutes time.

Second they expect below freezing temperatures as far south as Orlando Florida or further south than this including all of Texas with Below Freezing temperatures too.

This is quite serious actually because people and wild animals there are not prepared for this. For example, Iguanas who live in Florida fall out of trees when they freeze because they are cold blooded so if they are not protected from bicycles and people walking or running over them they might die before the temperatures rise enough for them to move again. the freezing doesn't necessarily kill them because they are cold blooded but it doesn't help them any either.

This is just one creature that doesn't do well below freezing in a tropical area like Florida.

Also, if the freeze stays very long in Texas you could have all sorts of problems like they did I believe last year or the year before when it did this and no one had power. So, the level of suffering people might experience through this likely will cost many lives from Texas to Florida to the Canadian Border.
