Killing someone is a vicarious way of committing suicide

People who are afraid of killing themselves because they hate themselves often wind up killing other people because it is a vicarious way of killing themselves. In a way all of us are connected so in killing other people you are also killing a part of yourself with each person you kill.

In Psychology this is sometimes called the Homicidal Suicidal State of mind.

In other words when someone is close to committing suicide often they are capable of homicides too.

So, this is why suicidal people are viewed not only as dangerous to themselves but also dangerous to their friends and family as well.

It's unknown sometimes what will trigger a suicidal person to kill other people before they kill themselves.

Once they have killed it is often easier for them to kill themselves too because they realize what they have done and no longer have the will to stay alive anymore.

So, if you have relatives or friends who are suicidal it's also important to find ways to protect yourselves from them too if you want to stay alive long term.

For example, when I counseled Male Juvenile offenders in the early 1990s I realized often that these boys ages 12 to 17 with 7 felonies without using a gun were seriously dealing with PTSD from what had brought them there to this point in their lives. So, I had to ALWAYS be protective of myself psychologically and physically so I could survive being around people so heavily PTSD to begin with.

I talked to a boy I was counseling from Oakland California. I said "Do you wish you were home in Oakland?" The boy said: "NO! Because if I went back there they would kill me. I'm safer here in this facility in San Jose.

The boy above was 15 years of age. And I realized he likely was right about what he said.

So, dealing with people you recognize who are suicidal or heavily PTSD from the streets or from warfare in other countries it is often important to realize that they psychologically are a danger to themselves and others as well. And if you try to help someone like this then you could be theoretically killed by them if you are too naive to protect yourselves properly both psychologically and physically.
