It's hard to say because like Russia, China is ALWAYS at war with itself because it is basically impossible to rule over that many people effectively. So, I think if a war happens it would be a way for China mostly to bring their people together for one thing, a war against the democracies of the world including India.
So, a war against the U.S. by China would also be a war against all Democracies on earth not just the U.S.
So, this is what China would have to look forward to. And this war if it happened would look a lot more like the weaponry used in Ukraine so far and not like any previous wars. So, it would be missiles of various sizes and more likely to happen as a Proxy war in a place other than China or the U.S. too.
It is very very unlikely that the U.S. or China would actually see munitions exploding on their lands. It would be far more likely to be a proxy war like we see in Ukraine than anything else.
Why?
Because the alternative would be turning the earth into an asteroid belt and ending all life here forever.
