Writing: "You only really know something when you can teach it"

I tend to see writing like this. You are spending enough time doing something to really know what you are talking or writing about. So, one way to look at writing is that you are either teaching yourself something or you are both teaching yourself something and others too.

Writing for me is sort of like taking a walk through the beautiful redwood, pine and oak forests where I live or walking along the beautiful beach and rocky shoreline where I live near the ocean.

In other words when you are writing it is like hiking in that you take it one step at a time.

As you take each step it is leading you to something like a beautiful view of the ocean or beautiful trees for example.

However, often when I write something longer I have an idea of what I want to write about. It is either a past life memory or it's something else of a different nature that I want to write something longer about.

However, most of the stuff I write on a daily basis is relatively short and to the point fairly quickly. But, sometimes I get inspired to write much longer things.

However, just remember writing something longer is a commitment like you make to a girlfriend or something for a day, a weekend, or longer. So, unless you can commit the time and energy and feel good about it sometimes it better to do something else.

Because committing that much time to something you need to feel usually you have accomplished something worthwhile in your life for yourself or others or often both.
