Nepal bans solo trekkers throughout the country - CNN

Even in 1986 when I was in Nepal with my family when you got a trekking permit for going into the Himalayas trekking they had pictures of dead westerners who died of things like broken toes or feet because there were no roads at all then to rescue people in the Himalayas then. So, because westerners are pampered where they live they often die when Climbing Mt. Everest or just trekking through the amazing countryside. They either die of exposure (not enough equipment to survive or not enough food and potable water) or the break something like a toe or leg or foot and then die because no one can help them because no one knows where they are or can find them. So, this has been a problem for the Country of Nepal much further back into the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and before. But, it has become so bad now they have banned solo Trekkers. It's sort of the same whether you are a mountain climber, A Scuba diver or anything else dangerous. If you are alone and no one there to help you you might just die on any given day doing your sport. It's just real life.

I was two months in Nepal and Two months in India and two weeks in Thailand and traveled through Japan to get to Thailand and Nepal. We flew from San Francisco to Japan to Thailand to Kathmandu Nepal and then back to San Francisco on the same route about 5 months later so from December of 1985 until April of 1986.

Note: The reason there are no roads most places in the Himalayas is because they would all wash away mostly during the monsoon rains every year.

Five years after banning solo adventurers from climbing Mount Everest, Nepal's government has extended the restriction to the whole country. Nepal is home to eight of the world's tallest mountains, but it is also known for its beautiful rural trekking regions.3 hours ago
