You can see how in the previous article that this information of Native American Creation stories is subdued?

What I mean by this is people are afraid of getting harmed by religious people in the University for even bringing up local Creation Stories of the Maidu or other Native American Tribes. But, you also have to remember just how extreme Americans were about people being Christian and white mostly everywhere in the U.S. If you had lived in the 1950s like I have as a child you might better understand this. For example, in Grade school At Horace Mann Grade school which goes from Kindergarten to 6th Grade and feeds into Roosevelt Junior High School Which then feeds into Glendale High School (at least it did in the 1950s and 1960s when I attended public school there) one day a week children were bused off to their Christian Churches to attend Sunday School During School hours as long as their church wasn't too far away from the Grade School. They usually left for several hours or even half a day for attending Sunday school then so this likely would be around 1956 to 1958 when this took place. My Church my parents were in charge of was downtown Los Angels and took 1/2 hour or more to get there so I didn't do this then when I was 8 to 10 years old. So, what I'm saying is people would have been threatened by Maidu or other Creation stories simply because they were not from the Bible and would likely have been though EVIL because of this in the early 1900s. So, people at UC Berkeley likely had to be very very careful about how they wrote about all this to not offend certain people in the U.S. or world. To make even more sense of all this see "1923" that takes place in Montana where Native American Children are literally killed for their beliefs.

This led in the 1960s to the American Indian Movement and eventually the ending of the Government schools to reprogram Native American Children away from their native American beliefs and Religions.

So, by 1980 Native Americans had the right to worship their old religions once again without being killed for it.

1923 in some ways is a very accurate depiction of the Times in Montana starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren at Prime video streaming. It is the sequel to 1883 which is a part of the Yellowstone series.

I was blown away with both 1883 as a series and have considered watching the series again but it is also very both entertaining and overwhelming and heartbreaking too as a series. But, it is likely more accurate than most depictions of life in the west in 1883. It's at Amazon Prime too if you are interested.
