Regarding last article:
Where I live in California where it is remote like this island you are allowed to build something like a Yurt because it is considered to be a "Temporary Structure". I had friends that lived in Yurts and Teepees in Mt. Shasta especially during the 1970s. In fact, we helped a friend transport a Yurt from where it was built in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Mt. Shasta, California in our 1971 Westfalia Camper Van around 1980. So, this kind of structure might or might not be allowed on the $190,000 island even if you aren't allowed to build anything permanent by local ordinances. I have spent the night in a yurt at 5000 feet on Mt. Shasta on a water bed with a wood stove keeping us warm with 5 feet of snow outside and been warm and toasty. So, one can be very comfortable in a yurt depending upon how it is designed and set up. The one I was in had a skylight in the center of the roof above which let in a lot of light during the day too.

This is similar to the cost of a prefabricated house. The yurt is built
on-site, but you can typically erect it in less than a day with minimal
labor costs. With custom-built yurts, you'll incur costs similar to
that of a tiny home.Nov 1, 2022
