If you go through Edinburgh Castle in Edinburgh Scotland you will see many landmarks from the Harry Potter Series in real life

 I think J.K. Rowling and her daughter I believe lived there when she first began the Harry Potter series and so Edinburgh Castle is the model for Hogwarts in many ways and even the local names around the Castle you will see if you walk around near to Edinburgh Castle too. 

I found it a really amazing experience to be there and to walk through Edinburgh Castle with all the history and armaments from the old days still there. There are even cannons there from the old days centuries ago. Edinburgh Castle was built on a high rock promontory point over looking the ocean and the City of Edinburgh. I can see how in those days this castle could most easily be defended from an attacking army which is why they had it built in the first place.

However, now Edinburgh Castle is one of the biggest tourist attractions in all of Scotland because it is located in Edinburgh which is still the Capitol of Scotland.
