Drove South to Santa Barbara on Sunday

I wasn't feeling well that day because I couldn't sleep until about 4 am Sunday morning so I only slept from 4 am to 8 am and then dozed until 10 am. This wasn't what I wanted to do but realized even though I felt well enough to load up our car for travel that my driving wasn't a good idea that day because I'm 75 years old. My wife is about 7 years younger than I but had an emergency Appendectomy about 2 to 3 weeks ago now and then we both got our 2nd Shingles shot on Friday and my wife's shot area swelled up on her left shoulder with a 3 inch wide welt. However, she could still drive with her right hand so we decided to forge ahead.

However, for me, the day was very difficult and I felt like I had been wrapped up like a Mummy, tied to a parachute and dropped out of a plane somewhere falling through space until my parachute opened. I was not a happy camper. So, the only fun part for me actually was the last 45 minutes of the trip from the 101 tunnel to Santa Barbara along the coast. But, once we unloaded our stuff and made ourselves at home here I was okay again after a nap and I have been okay ever since. So, I just needed a way to get here without me driving Sunday which worked because even though my wife just had an appendectomy operation it went perfectly before her appendix burst and she had a really good and experienced doctor. So, everything has gone amazingly well in that department. So, we are visiting family here for awhile which is nice.

The most notable thing driving south was likely that it was 105 degrees in Paso Robles on 101. And everything was greener than I have ever seen in in any year past since forever which for me goes back to being 4 years old riding to California for the first time on a train in the early 1950s.
