Traveling South

 My wife and I are visiting our youngest daughter in Santa Barbara. Our oldest daughter and her husband have moved to Europe for a new job he got there in his career. 

What was strange about this trip down from the Bay Area of SF was the rain clouds for this time of year. Usually, we move inland on highway 101 south into the sun and out of the flog and low clouds off the ocean into sunlight. But, the clouds occluded the sun completely and made it almost look like it was night time which is very unusual for California this time of year. Mostly we don't get rain or rain clouds much from about June to October almost anywhere in the state. But, ever since Hurricane Hilary hit within the last month devastating several areas of the state like in the Palm Springs area and the big Mud slide in Mt. Shasta which came down from Hidden Valley which is at about 10,000 feet on the mountain down all the way into the parking lot of the local Mt. Shasta High School and closing the school for awhile.

So, to say that this weather is strange for California is an understatement. But then, look at Hurricane Adalia in Florida and the winds from the Hurricane on Maui that caused Lahaina to burn up completely too. So, everything is changing worldwide weather now, and it isn't just the flooding and winds in new forms and the rain it is people's lives being ruined temporarily or permanently by weather worldwide from China ro Florida all over the world.

Anyway, we got here yesterday and it's good to see our youngest daughter who is still here as of now in California. My Son came and visited us in our home in the SF Bay area the previous week from Oregon with his wife and 9 year old son which was nice because when we drove north in July of this year to see them they all had Covid like so much of the Country now that we could not see them in person.

I also learned recently that illnesses like Bell's Palzy and Shingles are made much worse and long lasting when people get Covid recently. It appears that Covid attacks the weakest parts of people's immune systems systematically in newer strains. many of these new strains are impervious to any covid shots too.

Anyway, it's nice to be somewhere (Santa Barbara) where at least it's in 70s instead of staying most of the time this summer where we live in the bay area between 50 and 69 degrees. So, it's nice to be where it's a little warmer before Fall and winter set in again.

I think Santa Barbara might have the best year around temperatures of any place I have been on earth.

It averages about 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the SF Bay area year around. It seems like it's around 70 degrees year around which is a nice temperature ongoing for the highs temperature wise.
