There are a lot of deer where I live on the coast because they aren't allowed to be hunted here

However, this also draws Mountain lions with so many deer in this area and forests. In fact, within one block of our house a Doorbell camera or other security camera has video night footage of a mated pair of Mountain Lions roaming the area at night. Also, another neighbor watched a Mountain Lion walk through her yard while eating breakfast as well one morning.

The point is that a lot of deer live here and we have personally watched about 5 generations of deer mostly in matriarchal groups have their Fawns next door to us in a green belt that has some shelter for them under the trees where they feel safer.

Another experience I had with two of my dogs that have since passed away is one night at about 9 pm I was walking my dogs and since the stars were out and I could see the milky way because there are no street lights allowed where I live. So, it was pretty dark accept for the Milky Way.

So, all of a sudden both my dogs were barking so I brought out my flashlight to see what was the problem. Luckily,  I think I must have had my two dogs on leash and the larger one was about 60 or 70 pounds then.

the Dogs had cornered a Buck Deer with a lot of antlers into a corner by a fence. I thought at first the dogs and I were dead. But then, the Buck jumped right over my head without hitting my head with his hooves. If I hadn't seen this done I would have never believed this might be possible. because remember I'm about 6 foot 5 inches tall and this Buck Deer jumped right over my head. I was never more amazed how this turned out.

But, it also makes a great story to tell now too that everyone survived uninjured (including the deer).
