There is no real democracy with out real Free Speech

What does Free Speech actually mean?

It means that someone can say anything they want to as long as they are not physically harming someone else.

Yes. This could be really offensive to the point where some people might kill or maim other people for saying what they say. But, without this Right of Free Speech there is no democracy.

Did Democracy work better when I was growing up in the 1950s?

Not really. We had the same problems we do now regarding democracy, only then it was the rightists destroying the leftists by labeling them as communists whether they were or not.

Then in the 1960s we had college students being the leftists who were attacked physically by the rightist cops and soldiers on behalf of the government. But, leftists (at least in this country tend to be college educated and so therefore less violent). They might be verbally violent but tend not to be physically violent.

However, rightists are known for their violence whether they be Hitler's people or his follower, Trump. So, the people that follow Trump are often Violent in their intentions and in their weapons choices whereas leftists tend to be more into violent words than violent actions.

So, how do we give people free speech?

We must not censor people we do not agree with or one day our point of view will be censored too.

This is the basic rule of Democracy which is "IF you want your positions to be respected then you have to respect all other positions as well."

This is the basic rule of democracy and the further we get away from this the less of a democracy we have.

Otherwise, all of our positions will be killed one by one by those who are dictators and totalitarian by nature sort of like Drug Lords and War Lords.

So, the alternative to Free Speech is Drug Lords and War Lords.

Understanding this fully will change a lot of people's positions on Free Speech to help them understand that the end result will be no rights at all for anyone if we don't have Free Speech to begin with.
