No animal or human usually survives very well without them. For example, your survival instincts often are put aside through military training and this can interfere with survival too especially in large battle scenes. However, I suppose the opposite could be true with the type of training a "Rambo" might receive to go alone into situations and come out okay.
But, either way I don't think it's very useful in ordinary life to have some of these skills. It is counterproductive often to the survival of a person and their family when someone with extreme physical and instinctual skills trained to be like this who then gets PTSD from one or more difficult experiences and this can be true whether it is a soldier, Sailor, Police person or even firemen or ambulance driver or other Emergency services around the world.
But, generally speaking if you tune into your instincts and intuitions it can allow you to live a long time. Why?
Because most of what it takes to survive as a human being might not be logical or reasonable in many situations you encounter. So, being close to the land and not being too citified is one way to live a long time.
For example, whether you are training to be a soldier or polieman or fireman or doctor or Lawyer or whatever, unless you balance that with your instincts and your intuitions then it might not be useful to you or anyone else in the short or long run.
Without our instincts and intuitions we are like Tigers in a cage and out of our natural elements in nature.
Without the naturalness of nature in our lives we all perish slowly or quickly. This is one reason why I have always tried to live away from the bigger cities, either out in the country or in the suburbs near to forests and oceans and or mountains. In this way I am closer to nature where we all came from. To live a long and healthy life this is an important thing to consider.
