Today I took a hike at Elsa Rupp Nature Trail. There is a stream that goes through Elsa Rupp Nature Trail that first goes through Mt. Shasta City park and then goes through Elsa Rupp and then feeds the Fish Hatchery and then eventually empties into Lake Siskiyou and the Sacramento River eventually.
The fish hatchery mostly does Rainbow Trout and stocks places like the Sacramento River with Rainbow Trout as well as lakes like Castle lake with trout as well.
I first went to Elsa Rupp park to walk which is on Old Stage Road in the Mt. Shasta area around 1974 or 1975 when my son was a baby. Now his is almost 50 with a family of his own. But, I have gone for walks there ever since, especially with my children through the years and even with one of my grandchildren.
What is nice about it is that because it is lower it is seldom overcome with snow even in the winter (even though that can happen too with 1 to 4 or more feet of snow depending upon the year. But, with global climate changes it is less and less likely that it will be snow covered than in the 1970s or 1980s any time of year now.
